The CHEMICAL OPERATOR is responsible for operating batch chemical processing systems according to batch record instructions in a safe, efficient and clean manner. He must recognize any significant operational hazards such as, pressure/temperature extremes, rapid-reaction/explosion risks, personnel exposure risks, environmental contamination risks, and etc. This Operator must have the demonstrated ability to carry out assigned process operations with direct supervision. Duties and responsibilities
- Provide support in the gathering of required raw materials, preparing/cleaning process equipment, drumming and other qualified duties as directed.
- Follow safety procedures and use proper safety equipment for all assigned tasks.
- Operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks and powered lift trucks.
- Conduct plant housekeeping, general maintenance and landscaping duties as directed.
- Participate in safety programs.
- Participate in supervised training programs.
- This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor or Lead Operator.
- Maintain a clean and safe operating area.
- Follow safety procedures and use proper safety equipment for all assigned tasks.
- Learn and practice environmental, health and safety regulations and wear the prescribed personal protective equipment.
- Manufacture batches and maintain proper use of production equipment. Ensure inventory accuracy in accordance to established policies.
- Maintain a clean production area and equipment. Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed and work area meets all requirements for housekeeping.
- Weigh, measure, and check raw materials to ensure batches manufactured contain proper ingredients and quantities.
- Assist in maintenance activities as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required
- Basic mathematical skills and chemical knowledge.
- Basic knowledge of MFG's chemical process or prior experience in a similar work environment.
- Competent in reading and speaking the English language.
- Ability to safely operate an industrial fork truck required
- Ability to comply with all mandatory Environmental, Health, & Safety and process specific
- Ability to adjust to work schedule, including weekends and on-call, to meet business need required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to up to 50 pounds, frequently.
- Ability to sit, stand, and climb stairs for up to 12 hours per day.
- Able to climb ladders and work at heights up to 20 feet, on occasion.
- Ability to work in a warehouse facility where temperatures may range from 32 up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit; as well as work outside in all weather conditions.
- Able to perform manual dexterity tasks.
- Occasional turning, twisting, stooping, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to wear a respirator for up to 4 hours a day. Please refer to SOP for facial hair guidelines. Must be clean shaved and remain clean shaved as part of the requirements for the job.
- Able to work in a non-smoking, tobacco-free site.
Department: Shipping & Receiving This role is responsible for all shipping and receiving duties and to prepare outgoing shipments and confirm shipment accuracy to ensure the correct shipment is shipped out to customers. Duties and responsibilities
- Operate various types of transportation and materials handling equipment including trucks, trailers, tank wagons, and forklifts under the direction of a Warehouse Shipping Operator A and Plant Manager.
- Load and unload trucks including dry box and tankers.
- Placed received raw materials and finished in the warehouse in a neat and orderly manner.
- Participate in packaging, labeling and shipping of materials.
- Maintain shipping records and documents in accordance with company SOP’s.
- Follow safety procedures and use proper safety equipment for all assigned tasks.
- Assist in maintenance activities that relate to transportation and/or materials handling equipment as required.
- Provide material handling assistance through the use of hand trucks, powered lift trucks, cranes, etc.
- Participate in warehouse cleaning and general maintenance; Maintain warehouse in a neat and organized manner
- Participate in Driver Certification Program that provides training for new employees in the operation of transportation equipment used at MFG Chemical
- This position reports directly to the Warehouse Shipping Supervisor or Operator A.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Possess basic mathematical skills.
- Physically able to drive company vehicles
- Competent reading and speaking English language
- Possess a valid driver’s license, preferably with a Class A CDL endorsement.
- Not disqualified under the Federal Motor Carrier Administration Part 391.15
- Ability to comply with all mandatory Environmental, Health, & Safety and process specific
- Ability to safely operate an industrial fork truck
- Ability to wear a respirator and remain clean shaved
- DOT HazMat Transportation Highway Carrier Certification/Endorsement
- Basic Knowledge of warehouse practices
- Basic Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations
- Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects tools or controls
- Clean shaved and remain clean shaved as part of the job requirements for wearing a respirator
- See and hear in the normal range with or without correction
- Communicate and be understood verbally and in written form
- Able to work in a non-smoking, tobacco-free site.
